Your Bladder and the Season of Pumpkin Everything
Fall has arrived, and with it comes the annual tradition of Pumpkin being added to every single thing we eat and drink. Naturally, this can be a depressing time of year for those suffering from bladder discomfort. No, it’s not the Pumpkin that’s the issue – it’s the SPICE. Cloves and your bladder do not get along, and since cloves are an essential ingredient in almost anything with “Pumpkin Spice” in the title, this time of year can make those suffering from bladder discomfort all the more unhappy.
However, there are ways to satisfy your seasonal Pumpkin cravings and keep your bladder happy. First of all, Pumpkin itself is a bladder friendly food. More than that, it’s an incredibly nutritious food that is low in calories, high in fiber and contains good amounts of vitamins A and C. Remember to use only fresh pumpkin or plain canned pumpkin for cooking or baking. Never use pumpkin pie filling, as that will have spices added.
So, experiment with Pumpkin this year. Make yourself a Pumpkin soup or try your hand at Pumpkin ravioli, or for a soothing drink, try some warm milk with pumpkin and cinnamon.
